Nagpur: Changing lifestyles are increasingly impacting health. In such a scenario, cancers; particularly breast, cervical, lung, and oral, are on the rise. At a time like this, moving beyond fear to awareness and concrete action has become the need of the hour. Recognizing this, Orange City Water (OCW) has actively participated in the ‘Ek Cup Badlav’ initiative aimed at promoting cancer awareness and prevention. As part of this effort, OCW has introduced the use of glass and ceramic cups in its offices, replacing plastic and promoting a plastic-free way of living.
In collaboration with MY FM 94.3 and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, a special awareness session was organized for OCW employees under the ‘Ek Cup Badlav’ initiative. The session featured Dr. Mugdha Junghari from Max Hospital and RJ Amod, who interacted with employees. Dr. Mugdha emphasized the importance of early detection of cancer symptoms and regular health check-ups. She also highlighted how the everyday use of single-use plastic can be harmful to health and may increase the risk of cancer, supported by scientific insights.
OCW has gone beyond awareness by taking concrete steps toward implementation. The organization has eliminated the use of single-use plastic across its offices and adopted glass and ceramic alternatives, setting an example for the community. The session concluded with all employees taking a collective pledge to adopt preventive healthcare practices and a sustainable lifestyle. The initiative received an encouraging response from all participants.
