
Nagpur: A shocking incident of alleged molestation and forcible snatching of a ring from a 21-year-old medical student has come to light in the busy Medical Square area of Nagpur city. The incident has triggered strong resentment among medical students and members of the healthcare fraternity.
According to police sources, the accused has been identified as Pratik Khillare, son of Tarachand Khillare, a resident of the Imamwada area with a criminal background. The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of February 21 when the student had gone to Medical Square along with a friend.
As per the complaint lodged by the victim, the accused approached her and attempted to initiate a conversation by asking for her Instagram ID. When she refused and asked him to leave, he allegedly caught hold of her hand, pulled her, and forcibly removed a ring from her finger. When her friend intervened, the accused reportedly abused and threatened them.
Following the incident, the student approached Ajni Police Station and filed a complaint. Meanwhile, the accused also appeared at the police station and lodged a counter-complaint, alleging that he was assaulted and robbed of cash and valuables by unidentified persons.
Police examined CCTV footage from the area, which reportedly showed a heated altercation among a group of youths. Based on the investigation, a case of molestation and robbery has been registered against Pratik Khillare. Additionally, a separate case has been filed against unidentified persons based on his complaint.
Sources revealed that Tarachand Khillare has several serious criminal cases, including murder, registered against him in the past. Pratik Khillare is also said to have a prior case under the Arms Act.
The incident, which occurred at a central and crowded location in the city, has caused concern among the medical community, with growing demands for strict action against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
