Nagpur: Sudden unseasonal rainfall across parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada has led to concerns among farmers and traders. At Nagpur’s Kalamna APMC market, hundreds of grain bags stored in open areas were soaked due to rain, raising fears of significant financial losses.
Lack of Protective Arrangements at Market Yard
Despite prior weather forecasts indicating the possibility of rainfall, adequate protective arrangements were not visible at the market premises.
- Grain bags containing tur, wheat, and soybean were stored without tarpaulin cover or sheds
- Waterlogging and mud were reported in several sections of the market yard
- Traders fear quality deterioration of rain-soaked produce

The impact of the unseasonal rain was not limited to market yards.

- Reports from Dharashiv and Parli indicate damage to grapes, mango, and jowar crops
- In several areas, standing crops were flattened due to gusty winds
- Relief measures or compensation details have not yet been clarified
