Nagpur: In a shocking incident, the body of a newborn girl was found dumped in a garbage heap opposite Godavari Apartment in Hilltop Layout on Wednesday, triggering outrage among local residents.
According to preliminary information, the infant’s body was discovered in a garbage collection spot in front of the residential complex. Upon receiving the alert, police officials rushed to the spot and began investigations.

Dr. Vibhuti Panbude, Officer at the UPSC Urban Primary Health Centre, examined the body and stated that the baby appeared to have been delivered barely two hours before being abandoned. She further suspected that the child may have been killed soon after birth. Notably, the umbilical cord had not been cut, indicating that the delivery was recent and possibly conducted without medical supervision.
Medical-related equipment was also found near the body, raising suspicion that the delivery may have taken place nearby before the newborn was discarded.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify the woman who delivered the baby. Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from surrounding areas and questioning residents to trace those involved in the incident.
The incident has sparked concern among residents of Hilltop Layout, with many demanding strict action against those responsible for the alleged killing of the newborn.
