
Nagpur: Pachpaoli Police have arrested a 19-year-old youth in connection with a house burglary and four vehicle theft cases, recovering stolen cash, gold and silver ornaments, and two-wheelers collectively worth Rs 4.80 lakh.
According to police, the house break-in occurred between 12:30 pm on February 6, 2026, and 9:30 am on February 7, 2026, within the jurisdiction of Pachpaoli Police Station. The complainant, Rohan Rajendra Waghmare (29), a resident of Plot No. 87, Barse Nagar, behind Bhimjyoti Vihar, Galli No. 2, Pachpaoli, had locked the ground floor of his house and was sleeping on the upper floor.
During the night, an unidentified accused allegedly broke open the rear door of the ground-floor portion, gained entry into the house, and stole Rs 60,000 in cash along with gold and silver ornaments from a bedroom cupboard. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at Rs 3.25 lakh.
Based on the complaint, Pachpaoli Police registered a case against an unknown accused under Sections 305(a), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
During the course of investigation, the Pachpaoli Police detection team carried out technical analysis and acted on credible information, leading to the arrest of the accused identified as Anshul alias Anup Devaji Wakde (19), a resident of Galli No. 8, Ghasiyari Pura, Lashkaribagh, Pachpaoli.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the house burglary.
Further questioning revealed his involvement in four additional vehicle theft cases. He admitted to stealing:
• A Hero Honda Splendor (MH-31-BG-5776) from Pachpaoli limits
• A motorcycle (MH-49-BS-9925) from Nandanvan Police Station limits
• An Activa scooter (MH-31-DY-9952) from Tehsil Police Station limits
• A motorcycle (MH-40-AS-4099) from Dattawadi area under Wadi Police Station
In total, the accused has confessed to one house break-in and four vehicle theft cases.
Police recovered Rs 17,000 in cash, gold and silver ornaments, and four stolen two-wheelers from the possession of the accused. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 4.80 lakh.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused was involved in additional offences.
