
Nagpur: In a major action under Operation Thunder, the Unit 5 of Crime Branch seized 5 kg of ganja and arrested four persons on the Bhandara-Nagpur Highway near Kapasi in the Pardi police station limits. The operation, conducted between 3:50 am and 6:50 am on January 30, was led by PI Vinayak Golhe.
Based on the secret inputs, police intercepted a silver Toyota Innova (MH31 CR 3747) during patrolling and recovered the contraband along with cash, mobile phones and other material. The total seized property is valued at Rs 6,47,880.
The arrested accused have been identified as Faizan Firoz Ansari (26), Ahmar Ahmed Khan (32), Mohammad Shahid Anwarul Haq (29), and Firdos Khan (40), all residents of Kamptee, Nagpur. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had procured the ganja from a supplier known as Ravi Bhai from Katabanji in Odisha, who is currently absconding.
A case has been registered at Pardi Police Station under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B) and 29 of the NDPS Act. Police are continuing their investigation and efforts are underway to trace the absconding supplier.
