Nagpur: Motorists travelling on the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg should brace for brief disruptions, as the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will temporarily suspend vehicular movement at multiple locations for gantry installation work.
According to MSRDC, traffic will be halted at 14 identified points across Nagpur and Wardha districts between January 31 and February 3, 2026, in a phased manner. The stoppages are part of the installation of gantries under the expressway’s Traffic Management System, aimed at strengthening monitoring and safety infrastructure.
The gantry work will cover stretches between KM 0+000 and KM 89+413, affecting areas in Hingna (Nagpur district) and Selu, Arvi and Wardha (Wardha district). During each phase, traffic on the concerned lanes will be completely stopped for around 45 to 60 minutes.
Traffic halt schedule
•January 31, 2026 (Wardha stretch: KM 58.9–65.4):
Nagpur-bound traffic to be stopped from 12 noon to 1 pm and 3 pm to 4 pm.
• February 2, 2026 (Hingna stretch: KM 8.6–9.5):
Both Mumbai- and Nagpur-bound traffic to be halted intermittently between 12 noon and 1 pm and 3 pm to 4 pm.
• February 3, 2026 (Arvi stretch: KM 84.4):
Mumbai-bound traffic to be stopped from 3 pm to 4 pm.
• February 9, 2026 (Selu stretch: KM 31.5–45.4):
Traffic in both directions will be halted between 12 noon and 1 pm and 3 pm to 4 pm.
MSRDC has urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, expect short delays during the scheduled hours and strictly follow traffic advisories issued on-site. Highway users have also been requested to cooperate with traffic personnel to facilitate smooth execution of the work.
Officials said the Samruddhi Mahamarg, a key east–west arterial corridor of Maharashtra, will benefit from the gantry installation, which is essential for improving traffic regulation, surveillance and overall highway safety.
