
Nagpur: Vivek Laxmikant Bhimanwar (IAS) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The General Administration Department of the Government of Maharashtra has issued a notification in this regard.
This appointment has been made by the Governor under Article 316 (1) of the Indian Constitution, and Bhimanwar will hold the post for a period of six years from the date he assumes office or until he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.
Until Bhimanwar assumes the charge of the Chairman’s post, Dr Abhay Eknath Wagh, Member, Maharashtra Public Service Commission, has been given the additional charge of the Chairman’s post, as per Article 316 (1-A) of the Indian Constitution.
Vivek Bhimanwar is currently working as State Transport Commissioner. During his tenure as Transport Commissioner, Bhimanwar introduced several initiatives to streamline the transport services.
Those initiatives helped the department prevent corruption. He had given some ideas to help the department go digital completely so that people don’t have to come to RTO. Those initiatives have been accepted and the Government has started working on it.
