Mercedes, Innova seized as Ajni cops bust high-end online gambling den

Nagpur: In a late-night crackdown, Ajni Police busted a high-profile online gambling racket operating from a residential flat in New Manish Nagar and arrested several individuals allegedly involved in betting on cricket matches. The police seized property valued at Rs 36.93 lakh, including a Mercedes-Benz, an Innova, and 24 mobile phones used in the operation.

According to police, the action followed a tip-off about illegal online betting activities being operated near the lane beside Amrapali Garden. The team apprehended Man Deshbhratar (21), a resident of Shramjeevi Nagar, Ajni, who was allegedly accepting bets on mobile phones and passing the details to an associate identified as Samrat via WhatsApp on a line referred to as “Line No. 1.”

Upon interrogation, Man revealed the location of the main betting hub at Prozone Apartment under Beltarodi Police Station limits. Acting swiftly, Ajni police raided the flat and found around two dozen persons, reportedly from Pandharkawada and Kelapur, participating in online betting on match outcomes.

Police confirmed that the group was actively placing bets when the raid occurred. The seized items include luxury vehicles, smartphones, and other electronic equipment used for gambling operations.

The operation was led by Senior PI Nitinchandra Rajkumar, along with Sunil Kumar Kakde, Prabhakar Kawade, PSI Siddhant Maske, and constables Naresh Shravankar, Rahul Shende, Santosh Nallawar, Dadaji Mademwar, Avinash Changole, Vipin Pillewan, Rajesh Netam, Himanshu, and Abhishek.

Further investigations are underway to determine the wider network and financial trail behind the illegal gambling business.
