Nagpur: For residents of Wardhaman Nagar, it was a close call on Sunday evening when a major fire suddenly erupted in a house around 6.30 pm. Flames billowed out rapidly, causing panic as the blaze was dangerously close to an Indian Oil petrol pump.
Worried citizens dialled multiple fire brigade stations themselves, fearing the flames would spread through the neighbourhood. Initial confusion arose after rumours that the fire had broken out at a godown, adding to the alarm.
Despite several calls, residents claimed no fire station responded immediately.
The first fire tender reportedly arrived nearly half an hour later, intensifying concerns among locals about the delayed response.
