Nagpur: With illegal sex rackets increasingly spreading across the city and repeat offenders continuing to fuel trafficking networks, Nagpur Police have intensified their crackdown under Operation Shakti. Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal has ordered stringent action against traffickers and facilitators, while DCP Mahak Swami, who is spearheading the operation, has warned that habitual offenders will now face prosecution under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Between October 2024 and November 2025, Nagpur Police conducted 52 raids under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA) and registered 54 human trafficking cases. A total of 113 adult women and 35 minor girls were rescued, while 121 accused were arrested during these coordinated actions.
DCP Swami confirmed that 9–10 individuals have been identified as habitual offenders operating despite multiple arrests. Police have now initiated procedures to book these repeat offenders under MCOCA to curb persistent criminal activity.
“We are determined to dismantle networks behind sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation in Nagpur. Sealing such establishments is only the first step. Our stand is clear—this illegal trade will not be tolerated. Property owners, facilitators, and operators will face strict legal action. With habitual offenders still active, MCOCA proceedings are now underway,” DCP Swami said.
Police teams have been instructed to maintain close surveillance at trafficking-prone hotspots and take immediate action against known offenders.
