Nagpur: A shocking incident of assault at a parliamentary cultural festival has left Nagpur residents stunned. On Sunday evening (November 16), a large crowd had gathered for singer Shreya Ghoshal’s concert. What began as a minor scuffle during entry queuing escalated dramatically when Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Koli of Nandanvan Police Station allegedly brutally assaulted Indian Army soldier Nayak Girish Yelekar.
According to eyewitnesses, the initial dispute was trivial. However, the situation quickly spiraled out of control, with PI Koli allegedly raising his hand against the soldier. Reports indicate that Yelekar suffered a fractured arm in the assault. His wife, who attempted to intervene during the incident, was also allegedly pushed and spoken to in disrespectful language.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the area, with citizens expressing anger and dismay. “Is a soldier fighting for the country not safe even in his own city?” is the question being raised everywhere.
Demands are rapidly growing for a thorough investigation into the incident and strict action against the officer involved. All eyes are now on the Nagpur Police, with the public waiting to see what action the administration will take.
