NAGPUR: Following the recent explosions in Delhi, a nationwide high alert has been declared, with Nagpur emerging as one of the most sensitive cities amid fears of a potential terrorist attack on the RSS headquarters.
Intelligence reports warning of an imminent threat have prompted authorities to implement unprecedented security measures across the city. The headquarters area has been declared a high-security zone, with armed forces deployed at every route, lane, and major location throughout Nagpur.
Massive Security Deployment
The entire RSS headquarters complex and surrounding areas have been transformed into a fortified zone, with police, Quick Response Teams (QRT), and armed forces stationed in unprecedented numbers. Security agencies have implemented a multi-layered screening system at all entry and exit points, with mandatory vehicle checks and instructions for immediate action on any suspicious activity.
This marks the first time since the 2006 fidayeen attack that such extensive security measures have been put in place. Every route, entry point, and lane leading to the headquarters now has heavily armed personnel on patrol.
Intelligence Warnings Prompt Action
According to recent intelligence inputs, terrorist organizations may be planning a major attack. Clues obtained after the Delhi car blast have identified Nagpur as a potential target, prompting police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to launch extensive search operations across the city.
Security concerns have intensified following reports that while agencies have recovered over 2,500 kilograms of explosives, some materials remain unaccounted for. There are fears these missing explosives could be used for a major attack in densely populated areas or near the headquarters.
Enhanced Security Measures
Security arrangements have been tripled compared to normal days. Two additional Central Security Force companies arrived in Nagpur on Wednesday night and have taken positions throughout the area. The city has been completely transformed into a high-security zone with heavy barricading, night vision monitoring, and drone surveillance.
Detailed questioning is being conducted of every person visiting the headquarters, in addition to local residents. Authorities remain in heightened alert mode, with the administration taking no chances given the sensitive nature of the threat.
The unprecedented security lockdown reflects the serious nature of the intelligence warnings and the determination of authorities to prevent any potential attack on one of the country’s most significant organizational headquarters.
