Mumbai – The Maharashtra government has announced a significant decision benefiting women enrolled in the Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme. Due to technical difficulties in the eKYC process and natural calamities in several regions, the eKYC deadline has been extended from November 18 to December 31, 2025.

Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare shared this information, explaining that many women were unable to complete the process due to non-receipt of OTPs. The procedure requires two OTPs – one sent to the mobile number linked with the woman’s Aadhaar and another to the number registered with her husband’s or father’s Aadhaar – which was causing significant complications.

Technical and Personal Challenges
Several factors were preventing beneficiaries from completing the eKYC process:

Death of family members whose Aadhaar details were linked to the verification
The ministry clarified that women whose husbands or fathers are deceased, or those who are divorced, can complete the eKYC process by submitting death certificates, divorce papers, or court orders along with their verification.

Government’s Commitment
Officials emphasized that the government’s objective is to ensure no eligible woman is excluded from the scheme due to technical reasons. The extension provides relief to lakhs of beneficiary women across the state.

The administration has urged all beneficiaries to utilize the extended period to complete their eKYC process and continue receiving scheme benefits without interruption.
