Winter Session Preparations: Assembly Secretariat to Begin Operations in Nagpur from November 28

Nagpur is gearing up for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s Winter Session, with the Assembly Secretariat set to begin functioning in the city from November 28. Assembly Secretary Dr. Vilas Athawale has directed all departments to complete the responsibilities assigned to them for the session and to fast-track all arrangements related to accommodation and office setups.

A review meeting on Friday at the Vidhan Bhavan assessed the preparedness for the session. The meeting was chaired by Assembly Secretary Dr. Vilas Athawale in the presence of Shivdarshan Satya. Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, senior officials and heads of various departments were present.

Dr. Athawale said accommodation arrangements have been made at Ravi Bhavan, Nag Bhavan, the MLA Hostel and other designated locations for presiding officers, public representatives and senior officials attending the Winter Session. He instructed the Public Works Department to complete accommodation-related work on priority. Officials designated as chief and deputy representatives have been accorded the status of minister and minister of state, and he directed that their offices be provided with all necessary facilities.

He added that the first and second floors of the first building of the MLA Hostel will be reserved for women members. He also emphasised maintaining uninterrupted cleanliness, water supply, and electricity across all MLA Hostel buildings.

Security measures will be strengthened not only at the Vidhan Bhavan complex but also at legislators’ residences and Ravi Bhavan. The police department has been asked to streamline parking arrangements. The meeting also stressed coordinated efforts by the municipal corporation and other departments to ensure cleanliness, fire safety arrangements and uninterrupted power supply throughout the area.

This marks the formal start of the city’s preparations as Nagpur readies itself for the high-profile Winter Session.
