Nagpur: A video circulating widely on social media claiming that a man touched a tiger on a village road near Pench Tiger Reserve has been confirmed as fake and misleading by forest officials. The viral clip, which falsely suggests that the incident occurred in the Pench area, has sparked widespread curiosity and alarm online.
The Pench Tiger Reserve management issued an official clarification stating that no such incident has taken place in or around the reserve. The video, they said, was generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and bears no connection to real events.
Officials have warned that such false and fabricated visuals can create unnecessary panic among the public and spread misinformation about wildlife and conservation efforts. Despite the video’s wide circulation, the individual responsible for posting it remains unidentified and is still absconding.
The Forest Department has urged citizens not to share unverified or misleading content on social media. Authorities have confirmed that wildlife activities are being closely monitored and that strict action will be taken under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and the Information Technology Act against anyone spreading fake news or rumours.
For accurate updates, the department advised the public to rely only on official sources from the Pench Tiger Reserve and Maharashtra Forest Department.
