Nagpur: With another one-sided victory, Nagpur women galloped their way into semi-finals of the 75th Maharashtra State Inter-District Senior Basketball Championship for the Chief Minister’s Trophy in progress at various venues across the city, on Wednesday.
Nagpur women showed their supremacy over Chandrapur in the quarter-final winning 70-16 scoring as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter against their hapless rivals. Dhara Phate (19) was unstoppable and was finely supported by Krupaee Sharma (8), Siya Deodhar (7), Abha Lad (6), Gunjan Mantri (5) as the hosts had a superb quarter-wise scores of 17-5, 12-2, 15-1, 26-8. For Chandrapur, Nisha Gaikwad scored half a dozen points.
Nagpur men were five points (29-34) behind at the half way mark and down by a point (45- 46) when the final quarter against Aurangabad started. But the hosts went on a scoring spree when it mattered the most to finally seal the match with a nine-point cushion. Yash Jivtode led the charge with a match high score of 21. Tanuk Gurnule (16), Sonu Kumar (12), Kislay Rai (8) and Saurabh Mankar (8) all chipped in as Nagpur edged past Aurangabad 65-56 with quarter-wise scores reading 16-11, 13-23, 16-12,20-10. Shubham Late (14), Abhishek Ambhore (14) and Shubham Gawali (10) played well for the losing side.
Earlier in the morning session, Nagpur men outplayed Beed 84- 63 in the pre-quarter final match. On Thursday. Nagpur women will face Mumbai South West while Nagpur men will play Mumbai Central in semi-finals starting at 5.30 pm on DKM court.

Men: Mumbai Central (Subin Vel 14, Guru Prasad Rao 12) bt Mumbai South West (Adnan Makrani 13) 57-29 (14-6, 25-10, 15-11,3-2); Pune (Ojas Ambedkar 22, Sameer Qureshi 19) bt Mumbai North (Imran Khan 16, Harshal Parag 15) 76-60 (18-15, 17-20, 19-8, 22-17).
