According to police, Pawan, who has a history of crime with eight cases, including one for murder, had been released from jail only two months ago. Narayan, a scrap collector, lived with his family, while Pawan stayed with his mother and sister in the same household.

Investigators revealed that Narayan, who was reportedly mentally unstable and addicted to alcohol, often demanded money from his son, leading to frequent quarrels. On Tuesday afternoon, when Narayan once again asked Pawan for money and began hurling abuses upon refusal, the argument turned deadly.

“In a fit of rage, Pawan picked up a crowbar lying in the house and struck his father on the head as he stepped outside,” a police officer said. “The blow was so severe that Narayan collapsed on the spot, bleeding profusely. He died instantly.”

In a chilling twist, after the attack, Pawan calmly walked to Pardi Police Station and confessed to the murder. Senior Police Inspector Madhukar Bhagat confirmed, “The accused came to the station on his own and told us he had killed his father. A team rushed to the scene and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. The murder weapon has been recovered.”

Police said Pawan is a notorious repeat offender with multiple cases of assault and theft. “We are probing whether the killing was spontaneous or planned,” Bhagat added.

After conducting a panchnama, Narayan’s body was sent to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem. A case of murder under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against Pawan, who is now in police custody.

The gruesome incident has left the Bhandewadi locality in deep shock, exposing once again the dark undercurrents of violence within Nagpur’s crime-prone pockets.
