Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari has suspended 29 sanitation workers from the Solid Waste Management Department for remaining absent from duty without permission.
The action follows several complaints received by Dr. Chaudhari regarding frequent absenteeism among sanitation workers. Acting on his directions, attendance registers at ward-level attendance centers across all ten zones were inspected on October 20.

Additional Commissioner Vasumana Pant personally visited several centers to verify staff attendance. Upon review, workers who had remained absent for 20 days or more were identified, and disciplinary action in the form of suspension was taken against them.
Officials stated that the move aims to enforce accountability and ensure regular attendance among sanitation staff to maintain the city’s cleanliness standards.
