Nagpur: After multiple delays, the flyover connecting the RTO on Amravati Road to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University is set to open on August 31, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has confirmed. While the flyover is ready for a trial run, work on the road beneath it is still underway and may be completed by late September.
The ₹384-crore project, split into two sections from Bole Petrol Pump to Wadi, aims to cut travel time from 45 minutes to under 15 minutes. The first section is already operational; the second will be opened this month. Once fully functional, it will ease congestion at Law College Square, Ravi Nagar, and Bharat Nagar.
Proposed in 2021 and inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in March 2022, the project faced repeated delays due to land acquisition issues, tree-cutting permissions, and traffic diversion approvals. Despite these hurdles, CPWD says the main structure is now complete.
