Nagpur: In RANA Pratap Nagar, the local police apprehended a house painter, Anil Ayodhyaprasad Patel (31), residing in Bhim Nagar near Shiv Mandir, MIDC. Patel faced charges of attempting to kill a 38-year-old man, Suresh Narayan Wagare, by pelting stones at him. The violent incident unfolded when Wagare refused to grant Patel a painting contract.
Suresh Narayan Wagare, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar behind Gayatri Mandir, rejected Patel’s request for the painting work. A verbal altercation ensued between the two near the regional office of Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development on IT Park Road around 12:30 pm. Patel, unable to control his anger, assaulted Wagare with stones, causing severe head injuries. Wagare was promptly rushed to Padole Hospital for medical attention.

Following the incident and after recording the statement of Nilesh (40), Wagare’s elder brother, the police registered a case under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and initiated a thorough investigation.
