Nagpur: The Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced in the Assembly that Maharashtra Government will not reinstate the old pension scheme as it will put an additional burden of Rs 1.10 lakh crore on the state government.
Notably, there have been demands from various quarters that the old pension scheme should be started for government employees. State employees do not want the self-contributory pension scheme as returns work out much lesser than the old scheme.
The old pension scheme was discontinued in 2005. The State Gazetted Officers’ Association had also demanded resuming the old scheme.
