Nagpur : The people of Maharashtra have not forgotten the insults and injustices perpetrated by BJP leaders and ministers. The recent spate of controversial comments derogatory to the dignity of great personalities is highly condemnable. Opposition parties will continue to raise their voices until action is taken against these people. Cases were registered against those who insulted ministers, cases were registered against journalists.

The government showed promptness in suspending the police personnel in such cases. So why is the government silent now and no case is being registered against BJP leader and minister Chandrakant Patil who insulted great personalities, asked Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Nana Patole.

On the very first day of the winter session, the opposition parties’ legislators raised slogans against the Shinde-Fadnavis regime on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan. After talking to media persons, Congress state president Nana Patole said that the tendency of insulting great personalities started from a string of controversial comments made by Governor Koshyari. After that there was no ‘looking back’ and there seems to be a competition going on among BJP leaders to insult great personalities. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, legislator Prasad Lad, Union Minister Raosaheb Danve continuously spoke in a derogatory manner against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who is practically like a diety for the people of Maharashtra. Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil also insulted great men by using language that belittled them and their accomplishments.

It is very shameful that the Bharatiya Janata Party has not taken action against these people despite the fact that they are constantly insulting great personalities. Our fight will continue until action is taken against those who insult great men. During the Maha Vikas Aghadi regime, an important decision was taken to give bonus to paddy farmers. But the Shinde Fadnavis regime has done gross injustice to the farmers by discontinuing the scheme. We demand that the scheme of providing bonus to paddy farmers should be resumed.

Due to heavy rains, farmers have suffered, suicides are occurring in large numbers but the government has failed to stop farmer suicides and address their concerns. Yesterday also a farmer committed suicide. On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, a farmer committed suicide by writing a note addressed to the Prime Minister. But this government is not paying attention to solving farmers’ issues. It is being perceived that instead of answering the questions of the opposition leaders, the Chief Minister will arrange for ‘Khokas’ (bribe) and win them over. Is the Chief Minister of the state going to buy democracy through Khokas? Congress state president asked such this question.
