Mumbai: At a time when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is at loggerheads with the Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance (MVA) government in Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar hosted a dinner for parliamentarians and legislators that was attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The meeting was attended by Gadkari, Rajya Sabha member and senior Shiv Sena leader, parliamentarians and legislators from Maharashtra at Pawar’s 6, Janpath residence in the national capital.
Interestingly, the dinner meet happened on a day when Enforcement Directorate attached properties of Raut in connection with an investigation into an alleged land scam involving redevelopment of a chawl.
The ED on April 5 said that it has provisionally attached assets worth more than Rs 11.15 crore of Sanjay Raut’s wife and two of his associates in a money-laundering investigation.
Maharashtra legislators were in Delhi to attend an orientation program organised by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. The Maharashtra MLAs also met Raut at his residence over tea.
Notably, Gadkari had also met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray at the latter’s residence in Mumbai on April 3. The Union minister had describe dhis meeting with the MNS chief a family meeting and denied anything political behind the meeting.
After the meeting, Gadkari said that he shares very old relationship with Raj Thackeray’s family and said that he had visited his house upon his invitation.
