Hudkeshwar cops solve theft case in 24 hours, nab one

ACTING swiftly Hudkeshwar Police have cracked a housebreaking case within 18 hours and nabbed the culprit. The accused had stolen jewelery worth Rs 4.71 lakh. The theft took place during day time on Tuesday. As per the information provided by Police, Monali Suraj Shirbhate, a resident of Geeta Nagar on the Manewada-Besa road had gone to attend a marriage ceremony after locking the house.

When she returned home in the evening, she found the door of an almirah open. Shocked by the incident, Shirbhate checked the almirah and realised that all the valuables mostly gold jewelery weighing 157 gms were missing. She immediately lodged a complaint with Hudkeshwar Police.

A team of Hudkeshwar Police, led by Senior Police Inspector Sarthak Nehete, reached the spot

The police team checked CCTV footage and enquired the family about the members caught by the camera. “We asked them about the close relatives, servants, workers in their shops and at home. Everybody had gone to attend the marriage and stayed their for long time.

One person named Mayur Shahuji Buradkar (30) had left in the afternoon around 3 pm.We searched his past and came to know that he was the resident of Chandrapur. Several offences were registered against him mostly in Chandrapur. We interrogated Mayur, compelling him to confess the offence. He took us to a filthy place, two plots behind the house of Shirbhate. There Mayur had hid the valuables,” explained Nehete.

After everybody left home, well aware of the design of the home, Mayur came back from marriage place, entered inside the house, stolen the gold jewelery and fled. Since his involvement was proved, Police arrested Mayur and registered offences against him. The gold jewelery include mangalsutra, bangles and necklace each weighing 40 gm, of worth Rs 1,20,000 each, small mangalsutra and chain each of 10 gm weight and of Rs 30,000, and other jewelery including locket, ear-rings etc were recovered from the place.

The police action was conducted under the guidance of Nurul Hasan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ganesh Biradar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sarthak Nehete, Assistant Police Inspector Swapnil Bhujbal, Investigating Officer Manoj Neware, Santosh Sontakke, Chandrashekhar Korti, Sumit Chaudhari.
