Did this man stage-manage his suicide bid at Futala lake?

Nagpur: Burdened with the debt of crores of rupees a middle aged man on Tuesday jumped into Futala lake in a bid to end his life but surprisingly saved by a fisherman who was readily present on the spot. Sources however claimed that the suicide attempt was fully stage managed as the man, identified as Harishchandra Lalwani, 53, resident of Misal Layout had allegedly hired the fisherman to remain alert and act when required.

Sources claimed that Lalwani had duped thousands of residents of Jaripatka area to the tune of crores of rupees. Few onlookers informed that Lalwani had hired fisherman at the spot before attempting suicide so that he could be saved in the nick of time. A suicide note was also found in his pocket. However nothing has been ascertained about this thread.

Whenever a person commits suicide, a case is registered against that person under Section 309 in the Indian Penal Code which lays down the punishment for attempting to commit suicide. The maximum punishment which can be awarded is imprisonment is said to be for a term of 1 year.

After some hours, the friends and lawyer of the man who attempted to commit suicide had reached Ambazhari Police Station to quash the case. Further details are awaited.
