Nagpur: Unruliness and fearlessness about crime is growing so much day by day that some hoodlums forced their entry into secured premises of Mahagenco project office at Koradi and thrashed the Mahenco officials black and blue on Aug 13 afternoon, without assigning any reason and rime. The incident is recorded in CCTV camera, yet no one has been caught so far. May be because no police complaint was lodged.

As per details, about 12-15 hoodlums forced their entry into CPRI (Central Power Research Institute) building in Mahagenco premises, Koradi, and started thrashing the Mahegenco officials, without assigning any reason and rime. Those who were thrashed included executive engineer Joshi, clerk Deshmukh, deputy chief engineers Kiran Dhule and Nikhare and about 8-10 engineers. They also misbehaved with women members in the office. Others frightened by the incident ran out to save their lives. Certain security personnel posted at the office and other staffers tried to oppose the hoodlums, but they paid to no heed to them and rebuked them also.

The chief engineer was out of station, on Bhusawal tour. When the labour welfare officer called for Mahagenco security officer on phone to file a police complaint in this regard, the reply he got was that the security officer was on plant security check up. Other security personnel remained silent witness to such a gory incident.

The aggrieved officials then informed by phone the office secretary of Union Minister Nitini Gadkari and also the chief engineer on tour. Considering the seriousness of the incident, chief engineer Umakant Nikhare, who was on tour, rushed back to Nagpur on Aug 14 and heard the predicament of the sufferers.

The office-bearers of Mahagenco Engneers Association then filed their grievances before Mahagenco director Vishwanathpratap Singh, chief engineers Sanjay Marudkar and Pramod Nakade and others. The aggrieved have been assured that their grievances would be forwarded to Mahagenco MD and principal secretary (Energy).

It is worth noticing that all hoodlums were sporting masks on their faces and they attacked without assigning any reason. However, since their act is recorded in the CCTV camera, all eyes are set at the action that would be taken by the State Energy Minister amidst rumour that the attack was politically motivated.
