Nagpur News: Established on 4th August, 1923 Nagpur University now Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University celebrated its 90th foundation day at a function organized at Guru Nanak Bhavan on Sunday.
Eminent Personalities, former Vice Chancellors, Principals of various colleges, University staff ,Teachers , Students and former staff and students of the University gathered in large numbers on this occasion.

In the Programme the University conferred its top award the Prestigious Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj ‘Jeevan Sadhana Puruskar’ to Renowned and distinguished Personalities of Nagpur Justice Retd, Vikas Sirpurkar, Former Supreme Court Judge , , Editor of ‘The Hitavada’ Vijay Phansikar, Noted Social Worker Umesh Chaubey and Dr. RB. Kharat, Former Director of Institute of Science for their life long contribution to society and making their Alma Mater proud with their achievements.
At the function Awards for ideal Principal, Teacher and Best students were also given by the Vice Chancellor Vilas Sapkal. The awardees who were felicitated include Ideal Principal 2012 Dr. KM Reddy, Dr Ambedkar College,Deekshabhoomi and Yogesh Nasre, NMD College, Gondia.
Ideal Teacher Dr Arun Patil, Professor ,Dept of Pharmacy,RTMNU and Dr Vilas Ghodki, Professor, JB Science College ,Wardha.
Best Student Award went to Pranav Anil Pande,Ambedkar College, who has been commissioned in the India Army and is under going training for the same, his sister received the award on his behalf. Priyanka Victor Butram, SFS College, Apurva Ramesh Pali, Institute of Science and Murlidhar Harishchandra Tarare, Bar Sheshrao Wankhede College, RTMNU.
Non Teaching Staff of RTMNU for their outstanding work and contribution were also felicitated in the function. Former Vice Chancellors of RTMNU were also Felicitated.
Former Vice Chancellor SN.Pathan congratulated VC Sapkal for organizing the Programme and lauded him for taking good initiatives for the University.
Chief Guest of the Function Padmashree Dr.Sharad Kale,Babha Atomic Research Centre Pune, enlightened the gathering with his thought provoking words and spoke on the importance of good education and value of our natural environment. He said, “ Education is going to take our country ahead. we need to identify the talent in the student.He particularly said learn by brains and not by mark. Put your hearts in to the subjects.
Dr Kale assured of whatever help or study tour for the students of RTMNU in Babha Atomic Research Centre in Pune.
Dr Vilas Sapkal, Vice Chancellor,RTMNU while speaking on the occasion emphasized on doing our duty responsibly and contribute in building the organization. He spoke about the Vision document of the University.
Dr Ashok Gomase proposed the vote of Thanksand Dr Mahesh Yenkie, Pro Vice Chancellor was the Guest of Honour.
