7-year old boy crushed to death by tanker in front of father in Jaitala; driver is still at large

Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a 7-year old boy was crushed to death by a tractor-tanker in front of his father. The harrowing accident occurred near T-Point on Jaitala Road in city on Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the killer vehicle has not been arrested, yet.

According to police, Pankaj Kishorilal Vishwakarma (39), resident of Plot No. 36, Pragati Nagar, Jaitala, Nagpur, along with son Soumya (7), was going to Jaitala Market on Activa (MH-31/CG 5914) around 3 pm on Tuesday. When both the father-son duo reached in front of Rahi Sabhagruh (Hall) near T-Point an unidentified two-wheeler hit their Activa. The impact jolted Soumya and as a result he fell down on the road. At the same time, unfortunately, a tractor-tanker (MH-31/CD 4766) was approaching the spot speedily. As Soumya fell on the road he came under the rear wheel of the tractor-tanker and his head was crushed to pieces. The 7-year boy died on the spot. The fatal accident led to tension gripping the busy area. However, police managed to calm down the situation.

MIDC PSI Patankar, based on a complaint lodged by father of Soumya, booked the accused driver of tractor-tanker under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC and probing the matter further. It could not be ascertained whether the accused driver fled the spot after the accident or not.
