Nagpur: In a preventive move to ensure peaceful celebrations of Ram Navami, the Nagpur Police have issued temporary externment orders against 57 individuals from Zone III under Section 163(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The action has been taken to maintain law and order and prevent any breach of public peace during the festive period. Police officials stated that individuals with criminal backgrounds, who are likely to disturb peace, have been targeted under this preventive measure.
Before issuing the externment orders, notices were served to the concerned individuals and their responses were duly heard. Based on confidential inputs and technical surveillance, authorities concluded that restricting their movement was necessary to ensure public safety.
As per the orders, the externed individuals have been barred from entering both Nagpur city and rural limits from March 24 to March 27, 2026. Officials have warned that any violation of the externment order will invite strict legal action.
Police station-wise, 40 individuals have been externed from Ganeshpeth Police Station limits and 17 from Tehsil Police Station limits, taking the total to 57.
The action was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, and Additional Commissioner (North Region) Rajendra Dabhade.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Rahul Madne stated that the police administration is committed to ensuring that the festival is conducted in a peaceful and secure environment.
