5 truck drivers pilfer goods worth Rs 1.06 lakh, arrested

Nagpur: Five truck drivers, in connivance with each other, pilfered three tons of steel wires and sold the goods to an unidentified trader of Gondia directly. The cash pocketed by them was shared among themselves instead of depositing with the owner of the goods. All the five accused truck drivers have been arrested.

The complainant Shantanu Sudhir Soman (29), resident of Plot No. 12, Frinds Layout, Dindayal Nagar, had booked five trucks MH-40/AK 4729, CG-04/JA 628, CG-04/JA 1175, CG-04/JA 9388 and CG-04/JA 1481 for transporting steel wires to Nagpur. The goods was probably loaded at Gondia. However, the accused truck drivers namely Roshan Kewal Somkuwar (32) of Indora, Chetan Narayan Deshmukh (27) of Teka Naka, Sunil Baburao Charpe (27) of Teka Naka, Jagannath Dashrath Mahto (25), Mohiram Sapoli Mahto (40), both residents of Samata Nagar, connived with each other and sold three tons of steel wires out of total stock to an unidentified trader of Gondia. The cash of Rs 1,06,386 they received was shared by themselves instead of depositing with the owner of goods Shantanu Soman. The incident occurred between August 2 and 4, 2016. When Shantanu came to know of the theft, he registered a case with MIDC police in this connection.

API Shivurkar, acting on the complaint, booked the five accused truck drivers under Sections 408, 34 of the IPC and succeeded in arresting them.
