5 traps within 24 hours: Another City Surveyor, woman cop in ACB net for bribe

Nagpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur Range, is definitely on rampage, and flying high, too. Within 24 hours the Bureau has successfully trapped five Government employees and two private citizens for demanding and accepting bribe money in various amounts. On Wednesday, a NMC Tax Inspector and his agent and City Surveyor were caught while an RTO Inspector and his middleman were netted a day before. On Thursday, the ACB sleuths trapped another Surveyor of City Survey office for accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 and a Woman Police Constable for a bribe of Rs 500.

The accused Surveyor Arun Champakrao Dakhore (58), working in the office of Deputy Superintendent, City Survey (Nagpur Rural), Civil Lines, was nabbed red-handed by ACB when he accepted bribe of Rs 2000 from  owner of a farm. The complainant had purchased a farm land in Mauza Kolar, Butibori (Nagpur Rural). For measurement and providing “C” copy of the said farm, Dakhore demanded Rs 5000 from the complainant and even accepted Rs 2000 at the same time. The accused again demanded Rs 2000 out of the remaining amount. This time, the ACB sleuths spread a dragnet at office of City Survey, Civil Lines and trapped Dakhore red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 2000.

Similarly, the Woman Police Constable Shivlata Dayaram Kumre, attached to Traffic Branch, was netted by the Bureau for accepting bribe of Rs 500. The complainant is a driver and was taking a marriage party from Ballarshah to Gadchiroli in a travel vehicle. Meanwhile, when traffic police checked the vehicle they found some illegal number of passengers. The Woman Police Constable Kumre seized the permit of the vehicle but made an offer to the driver that he could be spared of any action under Motor Vehicles Act if he pays bribe of Rs 500. The driver, not willing to part with the bribe amount filed a complaint with ACB.

Subsequently, the ACB laid a trap and nabbed the Woman Police Constable Shivlata Kumre for demanding bribe of Rs 500 from the driver. Later, an offence was registered against Kumre at Gadchiroli Police Station under Prevention of Corruption Act.
