4- hour power snag at Navegaon-Khairi affected city water supply on July 19

Water supply in almost 60 per cent city areas especially from West, Central, South and North Nagpur remained affected on July 19 (Wednesday), following a major 4-hour power failure from 2.45 pm to 6.45 pm that occurred at Navegaon -Khairi raw water pumping station Head Works, located at Navegaon Khari, around 45 km from Nagpur.

The water supply in these areas especially from West, Central, South and North Nagpur to remain affected on July 20 (Thursday) also.

The raw water pumping station at Navegaon -Khairy Headworks pumps water to the major water treatment plants in city like Pench –IV WTP at Godhani and Pench-1, Pench-2, Pench-3 & Old Gorewada WTP through Gorewada Lake.

At 1445 Hrs due to Electrical Technical snag there occurred a Power failure at Navegaon –Khairy Headworks. The power was restored at 1845Hrs.

Almost four hours of pumping loss during peak evening supply timing in Parts of North , Central and South part of the city. The command areas of Nara ESR, Nari ESR, Jaripatka ESR, Dhantoli ESR, Omkar Nagar ESR & Malgi Nagar ESR and Civil Lines DT and Sree Nagar DT areas. received very low pressure or no water during the evening supply timings.

Further, as the water level in the Gorewada Lake is already low i.e @ 313.60 mtr the Pench-II WTP is also receiving less raw water by gravitational force from Gorewada Lake for treatment.

Water Supply may also remain affected on July 20 are : Bezonbagh ESR, Nara ESR, Nari ESR, Jaripatka ESR , Dhantoli ESR, Mhalghi Nagar ESR , Omkar Nagar I & II ESR’s, Civil lines & Sreenagar DT.
