3 goons attack cop with sharp-edged weapon in Jaripatka, one arrested

Nagpur: A Naik Police Constable (NPC) was attacked by three goons with sharp-edged weapon in Jaripatka area here on Sunday night. The cop had gone to the three goons who were attacking and thrashing by-passers indiscriminately near Mecosabagh Bridge. One of the accused has been arrested.

The victim NPC, Anandsingh Bhanuprasad Thakur (37), resident of Railway Colony, Kadbi Square and attached to Jaripatka Police Station, was on duty around 11.30 pm on Sunday. Thakur received information from Control Room that some armed men were indulging in fighting near Mecosabagh Bridge. Acting on the information, Thakur along with his team rushed to the spot. The cop saw an injured accused Pawan Preetsingh Sandhu (21), resident of Plot No. 302, Atharved Dixit Nagar, and his two accomplices were attacking and beating by-passers indiscriminately. Thakur and his team initially tried to prevail upon the accused. But suddenly, the accused Pawan Preetsingh Sandhu whipped out a sharp-edged weapon and attacked Thakur and inflected a stab injury.

Jaripatka ASI Sudhakar, acting on the complaint of NPC Thakur, booked the three accused under Sections 353, 332, 34 of the IPC read with Section 4/25 of Arms Act and Section 135 of Maharashtra Police Act. Cops managed to arrest the accused Pawan Preetsingh Sandhu and searching for the two others.
