3 chain snatchings within two hours keep cops on their toes

Nagpur News : Three incidents of chain snatching reported across the city within two hours kept the police on their toes on Wednesday. Within two hours, the thieves made away with gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakhs.

Around 2.10 pm, 72-year-old Vijaya Parate was standing near the gate of her home at Govind Nagar in Sonegaon, when two youths on a motorcycle came to her to ask her some address. The pillion rider snatched her gold ornament worth Rs 25,000 and sped away. Parate lodged a complaint at Sonegaon police station.

Thirty-five minutes later, another senior citizen was robbed of her gold valuable worth Rs 70,000. Shalini Khandagade, 66,-year-old, was waiting for her daughter to park her vehicle near a super bazaar at Dharampeth when two youths on a black coloured bike came close to him and snatched her chain. Khandagade, a resident of Ravin Nagar, immediately lodged a police complaint at Ambazari police station.

The third incident took place around 3.45 pm near Professor Colony at Ajni. Winkar colony resident Savita Gajbhiye, 43-year-old, was walking to Somwari quarters at his brother’s residence when two youths on bike made away with her gold chain worth Rs 12,000. A complaint was filed at Ajni police station.
