27-year-old man brutally murdered in Kalamna; one arrested, hunt on for others

Nagpur: In a chilling incident of violent crime, a 27-year-old man was brutally assaulted and killed by a group of assailants in the Kalamna area of Nagpur on Friday evening.

According to police, the incident came to light around 6:55 pm on April 24, 2026, after Kalamna Police received information about a man lying in a severely injured condition near Madni Chowk, Glass Company area, Wanjra, Diamond Nagar. A police team from Kalamna Police Station immediately rushed to the spot.

Upon arrival, police found the victim, identified as Roshan Dharamsing Uike (27), a resident of Wanjra near Glass Company, with grievous injuries on his neck, abdomen, and face. Preliminary findings indicated that he had been attacked with sharp weapons and beaten mercilessly.

The injured was immediately shifted to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital Nagpur for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

CCTV footage exposes brutal assault

During the course of investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the surrounding area and conducted local inquiries. The probe revealed that the victim was attacked by a group of four accused who allegedly acted in concert.

The accused have been identified as:

• Javed alias Lal Shakeel Ansari (22), resident of Islampura, Wanjra

• Shahbaz Zaheer Khan (25), resident of Wanjra

• Salman (21)

• Sultan (22), both residents of Wanjra

Police officials stated that the accused, for reasons yet to be ascertained, conspired and launched a violent assault on the victim using sharp weapons and sticks, leading to fatal injuries.

Based on a complaint filed by Police Constable Rakesh Betwar, a case has been registered at Kalamna Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges related to murder and common intention.

Acting swiftly, police have arrested the prime accused, Javed alias Lal Shakeel Ansari. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining accused.

Police are currently probing the motive behind the murder, which remains unclear. Officials have not ruled out personal enmity or other underlying disputes as possible triggers.

The brutal nature of the attack has sent shockwaves across the locality, raising concerns over rising street violence and law and order in the area.
