2 youths trying to end quarrels attacked with knives, sword in Gittikhadan, Dhantoli

Nagpur: Two youths who were trying to intervene and end quarrels were attacked murderously with knives and sword in separate incidents reported from Gittikhadan and Dhantoli area on Sunday. One of the friends of a youth was also attacked. One accused has been arrested and five others have been booked.

In the first incident, the complainant Mohd Jishan Mohd Mushtaq Sheikh (20), resident of Patelnagar, Borgaon, had a tiff with the accused Mohd Shahrukh Sheikh of Gittikhadan a few days ago. Consequently, the accused Mohd Sheikh, with ulterior motive in his mind, around 2 pm on Sunday, called Mohd Jishan at a place near Welcome Society in Borgaon on the pretext of ending the feud. Responding to Mohd Sheikh’s call, Mohd Jishan went to the spot. However, instead of keeping his word, the accused Mohd Sheikh and his four accomplices namely Abdul Shakid, Abdul Sohel, Mohd Shahnawaz Sheikh and Yaya Patel attacked Mohd Jishan with knives with the intention of killing him. Mohd Jishan received stab injuries on his head, neck and hands. A friend of Mohd Jishan who was accompanying him was also attacked murderously.

Gittikhadan police constable Rajesh Jadhav, based on statement of Mohd Jishan, has booked the five accused under Sections 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 149, 307 of the IPC read with Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act. No arrests have so far been made in the case.

Similarly, in an incident reported from Dhantoli area, two friends Gajanan Marotrao Wankhede (28), resident of Takiya, Fakirawadi and Rupesh Subhash Wankhede (20) of the same area were talking around 4.30 pm on Sunday. At the same time, the accused Ramu Sanjay Salve (22) of same area arrived at the spot and started quarrelling with Rupesh Wankhede. On seeing his friend in trouble, Gajanan Wankhede tried to intervene in the brawl. However, his attempt proved costly for him as the accused Ramu Salve assaulted Gajanan with a sword and inflicted stab injuries on his stomach with the intention of killing him.

Dhantoli police constable Duryodhan Bhoyar registered a case against the accused Sanjay Salve under Section 307 of IPC read with Section 4/25 of Arms Act and managed to arrest him.
