Nagpur: Continuing its action against notorious criminal Santosh Ambekar, Lakadganj police on Wednesday booked him and his two nephews Nilesh and Shailesh Kedar in two more cases of extortion. The trio has been allegedly booked for demanding extortion money from Mangaldeep Nagar based man. Interestingly, the victim Arvind Suresh Yadav is the relative of accused. The accused trio has also been booked for defrauding and threatening Hivari Nagar based businessman.

Yadav (35), a resident of Mangaldeep Nagar, on Besa-Manewada road, had reportedly borrowed loan of Rs 20 lakh from Ambekar to buy a plot in Umred district. However, within a month Ambekar sought his money back with interest from Yadav. When Yadav expressed his inconvenience to pay the money back given short time, Ambekar then sought half share of the plot. So save then plot, Yadav somehow managed Rs 20.50 lakh and paid to Ambekar. But, the fraud told Yadav that he has earned hefty profit on his money so he has to pay Rs 3.6 lakh more or else he will eliminate the complainant. Hence left with no options, Yadav paid the money to Ambekar.

However, after couple of weeks Ambekar again approached Yadav, on the pretext that he is yet to pay interest on the given money and the amount had gone up to Rs 15 lakh. When Yadav refused to pay the money, Ambekar forcefully took papers of Yadav’s house and gave it to his nephews as mortgage in exchange of paying Yadav’s debt. The trio then sought Rs 75,000 from complainant by threatening him with dire consequences.

Similarly, the accused trio have also duped Hivari Nagar based Mayur Shantabhai Monpara Patel (34) of Rs 9 lakh. Mayur who owns a ceramic-tile business was also threatened when he sought money from Ambekar.

Based on the complaint lodged by Yadav and Mayur Lakadganj police have booked accused Ambekar and his two nephews under relevant Sections of the IPC.

Ambekar and his 11 accomplices have been charged under MCOCA this month for duping businessman of Rs five crore in a property deal and also issuing threats to him for extortion of Rs one crore. Soon after, a series of offences were registered against him within a fortnight at Lakadganj, Ambazari, Sonegaon and Tehsil police stations.
