Nagpur: Two persons, including an 18-year old boy, were killed when they met with road accidents. The two separate mishaps occurred on Sunday. One of the deceased was victim of hit-and-run case.
In the first tragedy, two boys Aman Santosh Gupta (21) and Pranit Pundlik Varpade (18), both residents of MSEB Colony, Khaparkheda, were proceeding towards District Collectorate in city on their motorcycle (MH-40/AE 7334) around 2 pm on Sunday. When Aman and Pranit reached in front of Setu Office, a careless driver of Ford Echo Sport Vehicle (HR-26/CB 5712) suddenly took U-Turn and hit their motorcycle. The impact resulted in both Aman and Pranit crashing on the road. While Aman escaped with minor bruises, Pranit suffered critical injuries. He died on the spot even before any medical help could be provided to him. On being informed about the accident, cops from Sadar Police Station reached the spot and controlled the frayed tempers of passersby and nearby people. They sent Pranit’s body to GMCH for post-mortem after completing spot investigations.
PSI Sonde has booked the unidentified driver of the killer vehicle under 279, 338, 304(A) of IPC and probing the matter further.
In another incident, a 65-year old man Ramuji Mahadevrao Gurnule, resident of Digdoh Devi, near Bajrangbali Mandir, lost his life when an unidentified vehicle hit him near Mutton Chowk on Hingna Road. Ramuji was returning home walking around 7 pm on Sunday. A recklessly driven vehicle knocked him and sped away. The impact left Ramuji with serious injuries and he died on the spot.
MIDC PSI P R Patankar, based on a plaint filed by Manoj Ramuji Gurnule, has registered a case against the unidentified vehicle driver under Sections 279, 304(A) read with Sub-Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
