Nagpur News : Frustrated by her former lover’s daily drama, a 17-year-old girl attempt to set herself ablaze at Nirmal Colony, Nari Road in Jaripatka on Saturday evening. However, the drama claimed life of her elder sister while she rushed to save her and too got immolated. .
21-year-old Sangeeta Waghade, 21, succumbed to her burn injuries while undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) on Sunday morning. Younger sister, Monica, is still battling for life with her 90% burn injuries. Monica is stated to be in critical condition and has less chances of survival. Police told that the complaint was filed by Sangeeta.
“Though unfit, she gave her statement while struggling for life. She had suffered more than 90% burn injuries,” said police. Police has registered a case against Monica’s former lover, Vicky Lohe, a resident of Mankapur. He has been booked for house trespassing, obscene acts and songs and for voluntarily causing hurt but has not been arrested.
According to the Sangeeta’s statement to police, Lohe had forcibly entered inside her Nirmal Colony residence on Saturday around 10 pm while they were having dinner together at home. Sangeeta would stay with her mother and Monica.
Police informed that Monica was having a love affair with Lohe around a year ago. “Due to his involvement in illegal activities and criminal intentions, she ended her relationship but Lohe would still force her for marriage. From past few months, he has been torturing and disturbing her by one or the other way,” told police.
On Saturday night, Lohe entered house and started using indecent language for Monica. He was even forcing her to marry him and was threatening her of dire consequences if she refused the proposal.
While Sangeeta and her mother interrupted and tried to stop Lohe, he started abusing the mother-daughter duo. Police informed that Lohe had even thrashed both sisters, causing them injuries.
Unable to bear the regular torture and drama, Monica, in a fit of rage walked into other room and poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze in presence of Lohe and her mother-sister. Sangeeta rushed to save her and too got ablaze. While the siblings’ mother rushed to help her daughters, Lohe fled the spot.
Soon, neighbours rushed and shifted all three to nearby IGGMCH. Police informed that the mother suffered minor burn injuries on hands and is stated to be out of danger.
Police have been searching for Lohe.
