An utterly negligent and irresponsible woman who was riding on a Scooty caused a chain of accidents involving three trucks and another Scooty. The terrible mix-up claimed the life of a 34-year old man and threw the road traffic haywire as well. The awful accidents occurred near Besa Power House at about 10.30 pm on Monday. One of the truck drivers and the deceased Scooty rider have been booked.
According to police, the unidentified woman, riding her Scooty near Besa Power House, Dwarka Complex, Ring Road, suddenly took a sharp turn for going towards Mhalgi Nagar. The sudden turn by the Scooty-riding woman caught a truck (MH-31/DS 5397) driver by surprise and he too applied brakes in a hurry. At the same time another truck (MH-31/CB 828), coming from Mhalgi Nagar Square and driven at breakneck speed, crashed into the slowed down truck (MH-31/DS 5397) from behind. This impact pushed the far ahead and it rammed into another truck (MH-31/AB 8164) coming from opposite direction. The chain of truck accidents turned fatal when a 34-year old man Anand Nilkanth Khonde ran his Scooty (MH-49/S 8164) onto the truck (MH-31/CB 828) from behind and hit it with great speed. This hit left Anand seriously injured and he was immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital. However, doctors there pronounced Anand ‘brought dead.’
On the basis of information in this connection the Sakkardara PSI Fulakwar has booked the truck (MH-31/CB 828) driver and the deceased Scooty (MH-49/S 8164) rider under Sections 279, 337, 338, 427, 304(A) of the IPC and probing the matter further.
