Kolkata/Nagpur: One person was killed and several injured as a flyover being constructed in Kolkata collapsed on Thursday.
Efforts are on to rescue those who are trapped under the debris. Some workers have been pulled out from under large chunks of concrete. Officials fear there may be more deaths.
“We heard a loud rumble and then saw a lot of smoke,” said a neighbor. The flyover is at Badabazar, a busy area in centra Kolkata near Ganesh Talkies.
Several policemen and fire personnel are at the spot where a large crowd of people gathered after the collapse.
