Nagpur: The torrential rains which submerged several parts of the city brought the railway station under its affect as well. After the unremitting rainfall continued throughout the night, tracks at platform number 2 of Nagpur Railway Station appeared to be immersed in water.

The question which rises with current scenario is that whether the station has a proper system of drainage or not. In addition to the same, numerous uncertainties also pop up about the security level of the station given that a high tension line runs just above the tracks. It is also to be mentioned here that similar line had fallen in the railway station track last month. Any such incident may prove to be a reason of mishap if it falls on tracks inundated in water.

While the residents enjoyed the weather, rain also brought its share of miseries in the form of water logging.

However, as the showers started in the night, the vehicular traffic was not affected much.

As rain continued to lash the city last night, many localities literally presented scenes of urban flooding. The showers had inundated several houses and the fire department, kept on receiving calls of water logging since early hours of this morning.

Every year, NMC spends lakhs of rupees for cleaning the canals of the city. Hitherto, numerous areas get submerged in water in the monsoon. The reason, as is being claimed, is that due to lack of proper cleaning, sewerage pipes of the area were blocked. The incessant showers have, therefore, illustrated the real position of drainage system which agonised the residents living in lower areas of the city.

Heavy traffic jams on Narendra Nagar ring road due to water logging at the under bridge, was reported.
