One-Day National Symposium
Nagpur:
A one day national conference on Zoonotic Diseases and Neuroinfections was organized by Dr. G. M. Taori Central India Institute of Medical Sciences on August 6, 2016. This national symposium was organized in the auditorium of NEERI situated on Wardha road at 10 am. Various areas of zoonosis- brucellosis, listeriosis, scrub typhus, brain TB and cerebral malaria were explored in the lectures by various speakers.

The eminent personalities attending this occasion were Dr. S. P. Kane, Vice Chancellor Nagpur University, Dr. Mohan Gupte, Chair epidemiologist ICMR, Dr. Prakash Babu, Secretary SNCI. Among the organizers were Dr. H. F. Daginawala, honorary research consultant CIIMS, Dr. Nitin Chandak, Deputy Director CIIMS, Dr. Rajpal Singh Kashyap, Director Research, Dr. Amit Nayak organizing secretary SNCI Nagpur Chapter, research scientist CIIMS. This initiative was taken under the joint venture ICMR-ICAR Zoonosis project. More than 200 delegates participated in this symposium. This conference was organized under the able guidance of Management CIIMS, Dr. Lokendra Singh, Director CIIMS, Dr. Daginawala, Dr. Kashyap and Dr. Amit Nayak.

First session was chaired by Ex- Director NEERI and Dr. Devanand Kalorey from Nagpur Veterianry College. The speakers for this session were Dr. Rajpal Singh Kashyap, Director Research CIIMS, Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe from NIBSM Raipur and Dr. Prakash Babu. Under the chairmanship of Vaidys Jayant Deopujari and Dr. Nitin Kurkure from Nagpur Veterinary College in the second session, the various subjects were discussed by the speakers. Speakers for second session were Dr. Smita Mangalgi, BLDE University Bijapur, Dr. Rahul Narang from Sewagram Wardha and Dr. Sandeep Chaudhary from Nagpur Veterinary College. Dr. S. P. Kane, Vice-chancellor RTM Nagpur University mentioned during his addressing note that RTM Nagpur university is keen to collaborate with CIIMS for various research activities. Dr. Kane also added that research is necessary for the development physical and mental health of human beings. For that betterment of society researchers should bring their scientific findings into being. He said that CIIMS could be made an incubation centre for research activities according to need of the hour. Under which various certificate courses could be started in CIIMs which could benefit students as well as researchers.
