Katol cops bust inter-state gang of motorcycle stealers, arrest 15 members, recover 35 bikes

A Special Squad of Katol Police in Nagpur Rural tasted a major success when it busted an inter-state gang of motorcycle lifters and arrested 15 members. The cops have recovered more than 35 motorcycles of different companies worth Rs 6,00,000 from the possession of arrested 15 accused. The motorcycles were stolen from different parts under Katol Police Station jurisdiction and some other areas since the past few months.

The Katol police were flooded with complaints of motorcycle thefts from different areas. In view of the increasing incidents of bike lifting, a Special Squad was formed to crack the cases. The success drew closer to the Special Squad when it got a tip off that the key accused Pintu alias Pramod Keshavrao Raut (27), resident of Budhwarpeth, Katol was stealing motorcycles from crowded places and then selling the stolen bikes through his friend Rahul Ashok Hazare (21), resident of same area. Acting on the tip off, the Special Squad of Katol Police swung into action and arrested both the accused Pintu Raut and Rahul Hazare. A sustained grilling revealed that the two accused had stolen 20 motorcycles with the help of third accused Ali alias Sachin Kailas Bharsakle (19), resident of Saykhod (Sirsi). Ali was also arrested. With the three accused their hands, the Special Squad cracked the motorcycle lifting from Katol City, Paradsinga, Jalalkheda, Narkhed, Saoner, Khapa, Kalmeshwar, and Nagpur City.

The arrested three accused during the interrogation further named 12 more accused to whom the stolen motorcycles were sold off. Cops then arrested the 12 accused namely Dadarao Janrao Hagune (23) of Katol, Sharad Nyatoba Hirulkar (35) of Katol, Manoj Natthu Revatkar (23) of Singarkheda, Sandeep Ambadas Kshirsagar (27) of Katol, Kailash Harishchandra Patil (23) of Linga, Jagdish Ambadas Kshirsagar (27) of Katol, Prashant Gyaneshwar Shirpurkar (20) of Katol, Ahmed Niyasin Maulana (32) of Katol, Yogesh Arun Chaudhary (22) of Katol, Yogesh Suresh Pohane (20) of Katol, Khushal Suresh Bodke (22) of Karanja and Sharad Namdeo Kohale (25) of Yerala. All the 15 accused were produced  in a court which has sent them to Police Custody Remand till 20.12.2014.

Police have recovered 20 Hero Honda Splendour, Yamaha Company’s 15 motorcycles and other motorcycles of different companies collectively worth Rs 6,00,000 from the possession of arrested 15 accused.
