France’s Consulate General assures to develop Nagpur as Smart City

Consulate General of France Jean Raffel on Friday assured to develop Nagpur as Smart City and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s avowed plan to develop 100 Smart Cities across the country. “Nagpur is green, peaceful and beautiful city. Moreover, it is historically and geographically important city. Therefore, all help will be provided to develop Nagpur as Smart City and a delegation of architects from France will be sent here,” asserted the Consulate General of France Jean Raffel while leading a delegation that paid a goodwill visit to Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

The Mayor Pravin Datke on the occasion informed the Consulate General that NMC has started French language teaching class. Datke expressed his desire that Nagpur having historical, political, geographical importance be developed as Smart City. All facilities will be provided in this regard, said the Mayor.

Municipal Commissioner Shyam Wardhane said that all efforts are being made develop Nagpur as Green and Best City on par with world standards. Wardhane also gave a presentation on “Nagpur on World Map.” Similarly, Tax Assessor Shashikant Hastak gave presentation on 24X7 Water Supply while Superintending Engineer Prakash Urade gave presentation on Pench Project, Reuse of Water and supply of sewage water to Mahagenco schemes on the occasion.

At the outset, Mayor Datke welcomed France’s Consulate General Jean Raffel, and Trade Commissioner Mathew Liffard by offering them shawl, shriphal, bouquet and memorabilia. Other members of delegation were Technical Officer Abhay Tikekar and Sunil Sengupta.

Others who were present on the occasion include Deputy Mayor Munna Pokulwar, Chairman of Standing Committee Narendra Borkar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Hemant Pawar, Corporators Sandeep Joshi, Sunil Agrawal, Transport Committee Chairman Bandu Raut, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pramod Bhusari, Deputy Commissioner Achyut Hange, Deputy Director (Health) Dr Milind Ganvir, City Engineer Sanjay Gaekwad, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Madan Gadge, and others.
