Nagpur: A police constable and security guard of an ATM centre were injured in an explosion caused by a raging fire in a tyre shop. Both the cop and guard had gone to the tyre shop to douse the fire. The tyre shop owner has been booked on the charges of negligence for not installing any firefighting tools at the shop.

On February 10 around 0200 hours, the police constable Nitin Namdevrao Khobe (36), attached to Wadi Police Station, was on patrolling duty. During patrolling, the cops noticed smoke billowing from the tyre shop named Shubham Tyre, situated at Bazaar Square, Control Wadi, Nagpur-Amravati Highway. Nitin Khobe and Harikant Mishra, the security guard of nearby Andhra Bank ATM, rushed to douse the flames. Suddenly, an explosion ripped through the tyre shop and smashed its shutter and thus injured both of them. The constable Nitin and the guard were rushed to Dande Hospital at Ravinagar Square. A probe revealed that the owner of the tyre shop Ravikishan Matadindayal Jaiswal of Wadi had not installed any firefighting tools and his negligence caused injuries to the cop and guard.

Wadi PSI Raipure has booked the accused Ravikishan Jaiswal under Section 338 of IPC and probing the matter further.
