Nagpur News: Maintenance Command Commanders’ Conference concluded on 06 Mar 2014at Headquarters Maintenance Command, Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur. The Conference was attended by Commanders of Base Repair Depots, Equipment Depots and other major units across the country.

Air Marshal P Kanakaraj AVSM VSM, AOC-in-C, HQ MC, IAF expressed delight on conduct of the Maintenance Command Commanders’ Conference and enumerated the takeaways from the Conference.

He emphasized on the directions given by Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff to improve serviceability of equipment. He directed Commanders to carry out direct communication with field units to understand user requirements by means of interaction, video conferencing and by visits to field units. He stressed on the need to improve skill sets. Towards Life Cycle Management, the AOC-in-C asked Commanders to put up their ‘Strategic Plan’ by June 2014. While asking Commanders to take indigenisation as the first resort, he appreciated the efforts of 16 Base Repair Depot in manufacturing Drogue parachutes, which is the first effort of its kind.

While closing the Conference, he asked the Commanders to learn from experience shared during the Conference and bring about changes at their Units. He acknowledged the efforts of Base Repair Depots/ Equipment Depots and Units of Maintenance Command in spheres of maintenance, environment protection, conservation of energy, sports and security. He asked the Commanders to be proud of their achievements.

Air Commodore JB Inamdar, Air Officer Commanding, 25 Equipment Depot expressed gratitude of Headquarters Maintenance Command on behalf of the Commanders for providing a platform to share views and thanked the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Air Marshal P Kanakaraj for providing direction and guidance to the Commanders.

In the concluding session, held jointly with Commanders and the Presidents Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local), Air Marshal P Kanakaraj presented various awards and trophies. President AFWWA (Regional) Mrs Usha Kanakaraj gave away trophies to best Air Force Schools.
