Nagpur: A 58-year old woman, hailing from Chandrapur, was robbed of cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 55,000 at Chhatrapati Nagar Square Bus Stop here on Sunday. The robbers, working in tandem, took advantage of rush and relieved the elderly woman of her booty.
The victim, Lalita Digamber Nagrale, native of Chandrapur, had come to Nagpur for attending marriage of her niece. After the wedding, Lalita’s brother, Paresh Kamble, a Sonegaon resident, dropped her at Chhatrapati Nagar Square Bus Stop around 4.45 pm on Sunday. Lalita was carrying a bag and purse. In the purse, a small purse containing cash and gold ornaments was kept. However, after boarding the bus, when Lalita opened the purse for ticket fare, she noticed the small purse missing. Miscreants, taking advantage of passenger rush, pilfered the purse containing valuables worth Rs 55,600.
Pratap Nagar API Munde has registered a theft case against the unidentified burglars under Section 379 and searching for them.
