30-member French delegation to arrive in city on June 22

Nagpur: A 30-member delegation from France is arriving in city on June 22. The visiting French delegation will seek information pertaining to important NMC and NIT projects like Metro Rail, Mihan, river cleaning, city beautification etc under Smart City project. The delegation will be visiting three cities with Nagpur being one of them. Chandigarh and Puducherry are the two other cities.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s France visit, the country had shown its keen interest in developing three cities as Smart Cities. The financial assistance development of Smart Cities is provided by France Government’s finance institute Agence France Development (AFD) all over the world. The same Agency had provided financial assistance to Metro Rail Project and Nagpur Smart City project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had signed a pact with the French Government for developing Nagpur as Smart City, on par with international standards. The French delegation, headed by Paul Armlin, is visiting Nagpur as part of that pact on June 22.

During the visit, Paul Armlin and other members of the delegation will call on Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal and Mayor Nanda Jichkar. The delegation will also visit Elecric Car Facility started under Metro Rail Project, sites of Nag Nadi Cleaning Abhiyan. Later a presentation on Smart City Project will be done on behalf of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
